Missile Warhead Programs

The foundation of the missile arsenal. Research the Guided Missile, Chemical Weapons and Nuclear Weapons programs, then mobilize the corresponding Conventional, Chemical and Nuclear warheads as consumable ammunition for compatible missile systems.

MISSILE FOUNDATION
Research
The three programs form one progression: Guided Missile Program → Chemical Weapons Program → Nuclear Weapons Program.
Production
Research does not launch a strike by itself. The corresponding warhead must be mobilized and stockpiled as ammunition.
Launch
A complete strike requires a compatible warhead, a researched missile and a host unit capable of launching that missile.

Warhead Research Chain

DAY 1 // PROGRAM 01
Guided Missile Program
Entry point of the warhead chain. Required to mobilize Conventional Warheads and precedes the Chemical Weapons Program.
DAY 3 // PROGRAM 02
Chemical Weapons Program
Second research step. Unlocks Chemical Warhead production and is required before the Nuclear Weapons Program.
DAY 5 // PROGRAM 03
Nuclear Weapons Program
Final warhead research step. Unlocks Nuclear Warheads for strategic missile delivery.

Doctrine Check // Shared All Doctrines

Western, Eastern and European research trees show no doctrine-specific variation for this warhead-program chain. WW3Planner therefore stores these programs and warhead production values as shared data rather than duplicating identical doctrine cards.

Conventional Warhead ×4
Heavy explosive warhead described in-game as primarily intended for military targets and buildings. It is automatically consumed when launching a compatible cruise or ballistic missile.
Chemical Warhead ×3
Toxic chemical payload dispersed over a large area. The in-game description emphasizes effectiveness against soft targets such as personnel and states that it causes chemical contamination.
Nuclear Warhead ×2
Nuclear payload releasing explosive energy and radiation. The in-game description states that it is automatically used by cruise, ballistic or long-range missile launches and causes nuclear contamination.
Shared Item Properties
The supplied warhead screens show 1 HP, no normal movement value and the same ammunition-style property layout. Treat them as consumable payload inventory, not conventional battlefield units.

Who Can Launch It? // Host Intelligence

A Warhead Is Not a Launcher

The supplied reference material separates the payload from the missile and its host platform. Cruise missiles have the broadest launcher pool, ballistic missiles use a smaller group of specialized hosts, and the long-range/ICBM path uses a dedicated strategic launcher. Capacity and reload remain properties of the host unit, not of the warhead itself.

Do not attach those values to the warhead.
Ballistic MissileBallistic Missile Launcher, Ballistic Missile Submarine, Submarine Officer and selected special/elite hosts shown in the supplied reference.Smaller launcher pool. Host-specific capacity/reload will be preserved separately.
Long Range / ICBMDedicated ICBM / long-range missile launcher path in the supplied reference.Nuclear-only strategic delivery path. Exact launcher dossier belongs with the Long Range Missile system.

Reference Intelligence // Contamination

Source Status
The following contamination figures come from the additional reference document supplied alongside the current in-game screenshots. They are preserved as REFERENCE DATA and should not override current game screens if later screenshots disagree.
City Lockdown Mechanic
The supplied reference states that chemical/nuclear contamination damages a city’s contamination pool and prevents construction and mobilization until decontamination. It also states that contamination itself does not directly damage troops remaining in the city.

Calculator Architecture

01 // Host
Launcher unit and level determine whether a missile can be fired, plus capacity and reload where applicable.
02 // Missile
Missile type and level provide the weapon’s own range and combat properties. These belong to dossiers 02-04.
03 // Warhead
Conventional, Chemical or Nuclear payload is selected independently and must exist in inventory as consumable ammunition.
04 // Strike
Final calculator output should combine compatible host + missile + warhead without merging unrelated capacity, reload, contamination or combat fields.
Warhead Selection
3 PAYLOAD ROLES
Conventional
Highest production batch at ×4. Standard explosive ammunition for Cruise and Ballistic missiles.
Chemical
×3 per production cycle. Specialized chemical payload with contamination mechanics.
Nuclear
×2 per cycle. Strategic payload and the only warhead shown as compatible with the Long Range / ICBM path.
